6 Ways USAID Is Investing in Women’s Land Rights
USAID is moving forward to strengthen women’s land and resource rights:
- Supporting law and policy reforms. USAID works with governments and customary leaders at the national and local levels to adopt and implement laws and policies that promote women’s land rights.
- Gender integration in land documentation. USAID promotes gender integration in systematic land documentation processes.
- Gender norms change. USAID provides training and promotes dialogues with customary leaders and communities on harmful gender norms and biases.
- Agency-based empowerment for women. USAID provides women with the skills, knowledge, and resources to meaningfully participate in decision-making and governance related to land and natural resources.
- Private sector engagement. USAID partners with national and multinational companies to develop policies for gender-responsive land-based investment and business practices.
- Gathering and disseminating evidence, best practices, and lessons learned. USAID’s impact and performance evaluations produce a body of evidence to inform governments, donors, and other stakeholders.
