Privacy Policy and Data Protection Notice

One of your rights under EU law is that you must be informed when your personal information is processed (collected, used, stored) by any organization. You also have the right to know the details and purpose of that processing.

Here we give you a general overview of some of the ways this website processes your personal data including the use of cookies and social media.

Information Automatically Collected

When you visit GenderLinks, we may collect some or all of the following via the Google Analytics API:

  • The date and time of your visit
  • The URL of the website from which you navigated to our site
  • The name of the file or words you searched for
  • The pages you visited on our site
  • The items clicked on a page and resources downloaded from the page
  • The browser and device type (desktop or mobile) used to visit the site

We do not collect or track any personal information through these processes. We use this information, in the aggregate, to make our website more useful to visitors. For example, to learn about the number of visitors to our site, to understand the types of technology used, to detect operational problems, and to improve the website's overall security.

Information Voluntarily Collected

You do not have to provide any personal information to view this website, and Gender LEAD will not collect or store personally identifiable information about you when you visit the site unless you choose to provide such information to them.

If you choose to provide information about yourself—by sending an email to the address on the Contact Us page, completing the content submission form, or by signing up for email updates—this information is collected and stored through external tools managed by USAID's office of Gender Development (GenDev).

If you identify yourself in one of these ways, you have voluntarily provided GenDev with potentially personally identifiable information. GenDev may use that personally identifiable information to respond to your comment, suggestion, or question. GenDev may forward this information to staff working with Gender LEAD. Gender LEAD will not disclose the information to other parties and will only use the information for the purpose for which it was provided. In aggregate, the information may be used to count the number of people corresponding with us via the contact page or email.

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

If monitoring reveals evidence of possible criminal activity, such evidence may be provided to law enforcement personnel.
